McDonald's uses mobile phone readable QR codes for "nutrition" information

QR Codes are a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) used to store information which is more effiect than the traditional bar codes that we are used to. McDonald's Japan is now printing QR codes on all its food packaging so you'll know exactly what you're eating (if you want to know, that is). To read the info, you simply scan the QR code with your cellphone camera, which should automagically recognize it and direct you to a mobile website with the lowdown on the contents of your McFood, including any potential allergy warnings. For the two people in Japan that don't have a camera-equipped cellphone, McDonald's is also printing conveniently short URLs for the corresponding mobile website. Of course, all this info only is really more of a curiosity, since you've likely already bought the food by the time you're snapping pics of it with your cameraphone.
You can generate a QR code for your website, phone number, text or sms message Kaywa QR-Code Generator.

Fake Call To Look Cool

A new service that allows you to schedule a fake call at a specific time and date to your mobile number to make you look 'popular', or get you out of an uncomfortable situation.

Have you ever been in a situation where you wished your cell phone would ring? Maybe you wanted to look extra important or popular on that hot date. Or maybe you just needed an excuse to escape from an unpleasant meeting.

With "The Popularity Dialer", you can plan ahead. Via a web interface, you can choose to have your phone called at a particular time (or several times). At the elected time, your phone will be dialed and you will hear a prerecorded message that's one half of a conversation. Thus, you will be prompted to have a fake conversation and will easily fool those around you.

Mad Cow Disease Linked To Bovine Mobile Phone Users

Thats right, British scientists studying the disease claim to have discovered the main cause of Mad Cow when they accidentally came across a pack of Friesian Holsteins chatting away on mobile phones.

"We knew mobile phones were dangerous, and we knew cows were intrigued by wireless technology, but when we saw them using the mobiles, we made the connection right away," said lead researcher Kevin Barrington, who spotted the culprits at a dairy farm outside Kent.

With the already existing concern linking cell phones to brain cancer this will prove to be yet another headache for the mobile industry which has already dismissed the British claims. "To even insinuate that cell phones could somehow be the cause of this disease is as absurd as the notion that cows could use cell phones at all," said Nokia spokesperson Nigel Wanthorpe.

People don't know which phone they have!

This is an interesting news, 49% to 58% people do not know which model or brand of phone they have. So developers should not assume that the users of their application know anything about phones, J2ME, Symbian or Flash Lite.

What do you think ?

Ultra-Bling Bling !

Now it's getting beyond a joke. Moscow-based JSC Ancort Company has announced a smartphone designed by Peter Aloisson that features sections made of rose gold, along with 50 diamonds embedded in the case. The phone, which features additional encryption technology alongside the more usual SMS, MMS, e-mail, Internet access, WAP, Java and a media player, will set you back a cool US$1.3 million.

Of course, if it gets stolen, it won't be for the content of the phone, making the encryption aspects not that interesting - I'm sure the 40 white and 10 blue diamonds would be far more interesting to any potential thief...

Micro-Mini Projector from Light Blue Optics

And we thought projectors were getting small when they were the size of a Mac mini! Light Blue Optics has created a micromini projector that's the size of—wait for it—a matchbox, and it s going to be used with a cellphone. Its secret is new PVPro technology, an automechanical process that is adept at scaling lower resolution images to higher resolutions. PVPro can also take care of pesky annoyances such as keystoning. These capabilities come in awfully handy when you're trying to project a video image onto a nearby wall with a cellphone.

Light Blue Optics is determined to make it easier for cellphone users to share photos with friends and comfortably watch movies on a screen that's considerably larger than a postage stamp.
